The First Story

There is almost nothing that remains of the first story ever told. All that has survived are the words she has gone. Everything that has ever been written, and everything that has ever been said, have been attempts to recover, to restate, the original story. Within all that we can ever say, or write, we can hear those indestructible words from the first story— she has gone.
